Make and Mode: 1984 Dodge Daytona
Motor: 572 cubic inch Mopar big block
Fastest E.T. to date: 9.02 seconds
Class: Super Pro
Driven By: Grant

The Daytona is the second race car owned by Grant. Originally Grant and Ron were building a 440 powered Daytona when Grant found this beauty for sale in Michigan at a price that couldn't be refused. A quick weekend trip and some taxes at the border and the Daytona came to it's new home

The Daytona has been through a few powerplants. Originally motivated by a 500 cubic inch motor that was replaced by a 440 after it blew (but still managed to run a 10 second 1/4 mile) for the last two seasons. The 440 is being replaced for the 2009 season by a 572 cubic inch monster from World Products.

The 2009 season was filled with ups and downs, but mostly downs for the Daytona. The new motor has potential but some problems came up that kept Grant from being competitive during the season. Each launch was with the wheels up but the 8 second mark was missed by such a small margin with the Daytona running a best of 9.02 at just under 150 mph.

On a side note, each time Grant did have a fully working car he reached the finals in the days racing. Now if only the car had been working every race!
